Dear Hawk Parents:
Welcome! The Maurice Hawk PTA welcomes all students and parents, new and returning, to Maurice Hawk Elementary School.
On the right-hand sidebar, you will find quick link to Hawk PTA Calendar of Events. Make sure you add these fun activities to your home calendar and, as always, please remember that these events are only made possible by the participation of our parents. The Hawk PTA does not have any paid staff, but is entirely volunteer run. Please visit the Hawk PTA website at www.hawkpta.org throughout the year to volunteer some time. It is a terrific way to get involved in your child’s education and join in the Hawk community.
Also, check out the form included in this packet to order your new Hawk spirit wear t-shirt! Our new design was created by Hawk parent and graphic artist Kiki Parry (check out the artist statement below). The form is black-and-white but the shirt is light gray with blue lettering. This year, Hawk spirit wear t-shirts can only be purchased by completing the order form and returning to the school via your child’s backpack with cash or check. The deadline for all spirit wear orders is Wednesday, Septemder 21.
Last, but not least, please remember to join the Maurice Hawk PTA this year. Membership must be renewed annually. Your membership, participation, and financial contributions are critical to the ongoing success of our school. You can complete the membership form by downloading here or sign-up online at www.hawkpta.org.
The Hawk PTA Executive Board looks forward to a great school year at Maurice Hawk Elementary School.
Sincerely,
The Hawk PTA Executive Board
Artist Statement (Kiki Parry): As a budding little artist at Maurice Hawk School in the 1970s, it is an honor to now be designing the t-shirt my own children and their friends will be excited to wear in the 2000s! I chose to highlight the architecture and signage of our old brick school. The lettering to the left of the front door is so wonderfully retro, reflective of the early 60s when it was designed. I took a digital photo, increased the contrast, then laid my type and brick lines directly over the image to create a simplified rendition of a sign that’s been familiar to me – and so many West Windsor residents – for decades!
